The foundation on which the BaselConnect Association is built was set at a halfday conference held in Basel on 29 August, 2011 to which stakeholders from both public and private sectors, locals and expats, were invited. The nearly 150 participants wanted to be actively involved in making a difference to the region. Workshop groups first identified key areas for improvement in resources.
The findings of these workshops have led BaselConnect to create six Working Groups.

Each of our working groups has a team of volunteers working to deliver solutions to promote collaboration between expats and locals in the Basel region.
Early on in the formation of BaselConnect as an Association the working group BaselConnectsPeople took inspiration from the Welcome Information workshop to provide quarterly events connecting locals and expats as well as a monthly Stammtisch. The group periodically offers seminars about Switzerland and walking tours of Basel. Updates on these and other events are posted on our calendar pages.
